HealthyDiningFinder.com

I’m once again traveling for work, and decided to try out a site I’ve heard about in the past. It’s called HealthyDiningFinder.com

The site was created and is run by “master’s level health professionals, registered dietitians, marketing professionals and a doctoral level researcher” (taken from the site’s “About Us” section). It allows you to enter an address and get a list of restaurants nearby with healthy options. It provides you what those options are, the nutrition information for each item, and any special requests to make in order to get the dish as analyzed (e.g. dressing on the side).

I normally stick to fast food or chain restaurants when traveling because of the predictability of the food and PTS, but this site is giving me the tools to try a nicer local place.  The fast food joints are on there too, but the site owners help local restaurants get nutrition analysis that I’ve heard can be quite expensive.

The site is a great resource, and I plan to use it alot more when I travel for work now. Check it out!

Meal planning template

A big part of weight management success is planning your meals, and being prepared for what’s ahead. I’ve tried alot of different tools for planning, and this template seems to work best.

It’s filled out for this week, through Friday.  I usually find I can’t plan all 7 days at once so I do the work week first, then plan the weekend once it gets closer and I have an idea of what I’m going to be doing.

Feel free to download and re-use this template as you like.  If you come up with a great improvement to it, email me or post a link as a comment so others can share the wealth!

P.S. This week I coped out a little and am just repeating the same lunch every day.  It’s not always this monotonous. :-)
